UCSD had a rough day against Cal Poly SLO, one of the top teams in the league.

UCSD came out a little more fired up than usual and opened with a promising offensive drive, but there was a turnover in the red-zone. Cal Poly was eventually able to cause distortions in the defense after several phases of play and score a try.

UCSD came back on the offensive and got a penalty goal, making the score 5-3. Cal Poly then went for a big run, scoring several tries. UCSD finally went on the offensive again with a few minutes left in the half, and came tantalizingly close to scoring by getting the ball within 5 meters of the goal line. But the Mustangs managed a turnover in the ruck and got out of danger with a clearing kick.

The second half was all Cal Poly, leading to a final score of 95-3.

After hard games against the top 3 teams in the conference, UCSD hopes for a win against the lower-ranked Claremont colleges at home on March 14.
